McCallum have recently opened the tender period for the construction of a specialised "High Physical Support" home in Lucas, Ballarat.
The house, which will be built to strict NDIS criteria and Housing Livability Guidelines under the Specialised Disability Accommodation (SDA), is planned to provide modern and suitable housing for people with high disability support needs. The house will include accommodation for three people with disability, as well as 24/7 on-site, overnight accommodation for a support worker.
The house is within 400m of the Lucas town centre (Coltman Plaza) which includes a Woolworths supermarket, pharmacy, medical centre and retail outlets. It is also within a very short distance of public transport services.
The Cornell Court project was designed by Ashleigh Gray, Director of the DDC Group (www.ddcgroup.net.au) who has vast experience in disability accommodation design and access under the NDIS, including homes completed for the TAC.
The house is planned to include assistive technologies such as automatic blinds, smart lights, bedroom to bathroom hoist systems and much more.
It is expected that the successful tenderer is awarded the construction contract prior to Christmas.
